Karen was privileged to grow up in a pastor’s home, and was saved at the age of seven and baptized at West Division Street Baptist Church. She was blessed to be influenced by many missionaries as they came to present their burden for the lost. Even though her heart was sensitive toward this great work, it was not until later in life that she felt God’s direction toward missionary work. After graduating from Liberty University, she began a 12 year teaching tenure in the public school system. It was during this time that God used several summer mission trips to prepare her heart and redirect her life. In the summer of 2004, when Karen sensed the Holy Spirit speaking to her heart, she surrendered to go. Karen then served as a short term missionary for 19 months in Mexico City. It was through that time and experience there that God confirmed His will for her to serve as a full time missionary. Karen is excited to be a part of Team Guatemala, and prays that God will be glorified as she serves Him.
